A Word From Cindy

In the pure interest of self preservation, I would like to respond to the previous blog post. Bob has been extraordinary in meeting my every need. But I find that his latest description of getting me downstairs was a bit modest. In truth, he's a prince with arm muscles that ripple in the wind. His legs have the appearance of extra thick crispy cut crinkle oven fries. I've only heard him grunt once, on the third step from the bottom.

Please be advised, folks, he is a man of great humility, who would rather say it took an army than take all the credit. The long and the short of it is, on any given day, it doesn't take three people to get me up and down the stairs!

(Noah, please let us know if you have any discount elevators.)

Some prayer requests!
-I'd love to be able to drink milk or eat ice cream
-I'd be ecstatic to have some semblance of normal digestion of the small amounts of food I DO manage to get down.
-I'd love to be able to eat real food without regretting it soon thereafter.
-Chemograce for the second round of treatment - starts tomorrow.

The doctor was very encouraged this week after looking at my bloodwork results. Though it's not there yet, my liver function has inched back in the direction of normal over the past week as I've had IV fluids at home. This makes me look less like a giraffe (yellow). We have had some good nurses and my appetite has increased to include small amounts of simple fruits and vegetables.

Dad by day we are depending on answered prayer and revelation of God's love for us. It's never hard to find a way to worship our marvelous king, God, and creator -- even if He struggles to come in line with my will.

  1. Cindy,

  2. Oh, I forgot to mention how much I enjoy the pictures you put on your blog! I just start smiling and giggling when I see your beautiful face, cute face, and sweet Bob and you together. Except now, the image of giant crinkle cut french fry legs come to mind..... That's a little freaky :o)! I'm sure I'll get over it!
    love you,

  3. Ha! Picturing not only the "fries" but also "God struggling" to come in line with your will. Fine writing, Cindy. Even better attitude. God brings you to mind all the time. Praying for more news like the "inching back to normal" liver function.
    Thank you, Lord. love, Sue

  7. Cindy, I am soooo blessed to hear the positive report--and it's fantastic to be hearing from YOU! It also blesses me that in the midst of your suffering, you are still thinking about others--praising and encouraging Bob as he so faithfully cares for you. Please know that you are constantly in our thoughts and prayers. We love you so much and can't wait to see you this summer when we come home.
    Love you, Diana

  9. Cindy, if your writing is any indication, your mental acuity far surpasses what Bob gives you credit for -- hehe. Dan and I, and our family, are praying, praying, praying for you. And not for you only, but for your knight in shining armor (the one with the crinkle-cut legs) and your precious children who have the joyous privilege of returning only a portion of the sacrificial love you have shown to them over the years of their lives. It blesses me to imagine them at your side (well, until they have to go back to Ireland, The Czech Republic, Boston, or the other far corners of the world; sheesh, what kind of world-changers have you raised??).
Anyway, we hope to see you soon! Until then, I will remind you of what you already know and confess -- how amazingly wonderful, faithful, and gracious is our God! He who splashes color across the skies for us to gaze upon, morning and evening ... Who sends His gentle rains, His wild storms, and His warm, life-infusing sunshine ... Who surrounds us with love ... Who invented the concept of laying down one's life for another ... and in whom Life once conquered death -- and still does! May He fill you with Life overflowing.
